Obsessive Compulsive Disorder in Children
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder often begins in children around the age
of 11 and older. Obsessive compulsive disorder is known for its intense
compulsions and obsessions that bring on extreme discomfort and anxiety
and debilitates the everyday functioning of the child. The obsessions a
child experiences are usually persistent, on-going and often interfere
in one’s thoughts, actions and activities. These unwanted feelings of
anxiety and compulsions are repetitive and ritualistic such as hoarding,
extreme order in one’s life, hand-washing, rechecking things over and
over and repeating certain words over and over. The obsessions become so
bad that it affects a child’s day to day functioning in such areas as
school, home life, relationships and various social activities.
Some children are obsessed with certain thoughts. They become fearful
that some of the thoughts might harm other family members. Others are
fearful of germs; that they might become exposed and become ill to,
contaminated food. In order to cope with these feelings, OCD in children
will create rituals—repetitive rituals—that help them get through the
anxious and obsessive feelings.
Some feel that obsessive-compulsive disorder children comes from heredity and possibly from a bacterial infection.
This is where the Linden Method can be of help with OCD in children. The
Linden Method works because this method focuses on a small area in the
brain that processes memory of emotional responses. This tiny area of
the brain is the chief problem maker when it comes to panic attacks,
anxiety and OCD but when you follow the Charles Linden Method correctly
and methodically, one can reprogram the way this organ works.
This method consists of a Method Manual, seven Audio CD’s and a DVD.
This is the basis of the program and it will teach you how to completely
eliminate your disorders and prevent them from coming back. In
addition, once you become enrolled in the this program, you the patient
will have access to 24 hour phone and email support. There are trained
psychologists, counselors and anxiety disorder coaches that also are
available to help and support your progress.
The severity of O.C.D. in children varies from child to child and
changes day by day. At this early age in children it is best to treat
this illness soon so the child can overcome the obsessive behavior and
grow into a happy and well-functioning person.
With this method most children can be treated successfully with a
combined input of medication, psychotherapy and cognitive techniques. Of
course, as with any kind of treatment, especially when helping
children, family support helps greatly in producing success.

I found your hub interesting although not all OCD can be eliminated in everyone you get rid of one compulsion often people start a replacment one its a constant tweaking of how to deal with it by the person and others.
